Terms of use
Our Space is a private space for you and one partner. What you post stays yours. Only use it with someone who wants to be paired with you. Either of you can unpair at any time, and you can delete your own account whenever you like.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
- Our Space (“the service”) is provided and run by Qingdong Yang (“we”, “us”). Contact: hello@our-space.date.
- By creating an account, ticking the box or continuing to use the service, you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
- The service is a web app (a PWA you can add to your home screen). If it is later offered on the App Store, Apple’s platform terms also apply, but Apple is not responsible for the service.
2. Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older. The service is designed for adult couples and is not intended for children.
- Sign up with a real email address that belongs to you and keep it working, so you can receive account emails such as confirmations and password resets.
- An account is for one person. Don’t lend, transfer or share it.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password safe. Passwords are at least 10 characters; we store only a hash and never see the password itself.
- If you think someone else is using your account, change your password and contact us straight away. Resetting your password signs you out on every device.
- You stay signed in for up to 30 days, renewed while you use the service.
- You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings → Delete account (see section 10).
4. Pairing and unpairing
- You can be paired with one partner at a time. Pairing happens only when they accept the invite code you send.
- Only invite someone who knows about it and wants to be paired with you. Never use the service to monitor, track or control anyone.
- Once paired, your partner sees what you choose to share — see “What your partner can see” in section 4 of the Privacy Policy.
- Either of you can unpair at any time in Settings, without the other’s agreement:
- sharing stops for both of you at once, and content that belonged to the two of you — chat, diary, letters, capsules, trips — can no longer be read by either of you;
- each person’s own data (profile, own tasks and schedule, own meals) is not deleted.
- The nickname you give your partner is visible only to you.
5. Your content
- Content you create in the service (text, photos, diary entries, chat, letters, capsules, meal logs, tasks and so on) remains yours.
- To run the service you give us a limited, non-transferable licence to store and back it up, show it to you and to the person you share it with, make thumbnails, and process it when you use a feature that needs it. We don’t use your content for advertising, don’t sell it and don’t use it to train AI models.
- You confirm you have the right to upload your content, and that anyone else in your photos has agreed.
- A “view once” message is deleted from the server, text and photo, after your partner opens it. We can’t stop them taking a screenshot or photo while it is open.
6. Acceptable use
When using the service, you must not:
- post anything unlawful, or anything that infringes someone’s privacy, image rights, copyright or other rights;
- harass, threaten, stalk or control anyone, including through shared cities, times or travel plans;
- upload malicious code, try to get around sign-in, access data that isn’t yours or interfere with the service;
- use scripts or automated tools to make large numbers of requests or scrape the service;
- use the service for commercial promotion or anything other than private communication between partners.
7. Notifications, letters and capsules
- Signal and letter notifications are delivered through your phone’s or browser’s own push service, only after you turn them on. You can turn them off at any time in Settings.
- An airmail letter’s arrival time is estimated from the flight distance between your two cities; a scheduled letter arrives at the time you choose. Notifications can be late or missed because of the network, a switched-off device or system settings, but the letter itself appears in the app when it’s due.
- Once a capsule is sealed, neither of you — not even the writer — can read it in the app before its opening date. If you unpair before then, the capsule can no longer be opened.
8. Third-party information
- Weather, places and nutrition data come from third parties (see “Data sources” at the bottom of this page). We don’t guarantee they are accurate, complete or up to date.
- Calories, nutrition figures, budgets and goals in Meals are for everyday reference only and are not medical, dietary or health advice. Speak to a professional about health concerns.
- Letter distances and connection times are calculated from what you enter. Rely on your airline’s or rail operator’s official information.
9. Changes and availability
- The service is at an early stage. Features may be added, changed or paused. We will tell you in advance about significant changes that affect your data.
- We work to keep the service available and back it up every day, but we can’t promise it will never be interrupted or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copy of anything important.
- The service is currently free. If paid features are introduced, prices and conditions will be explained first and you will never be charged without agreeing.
10. Deleting your account, suspension and termination
- You can stop using the service at any time, and delete your account directly in Settings → Delete account by entering your password. Deletion takes effect immediately: your own content is erased; the chat, diary, letters, special days and trips you shared are deleted too (they disappear for your partner as well) and you are unpaired; your partner’s own private records are not affected. Copies in server backups are overwritten within 35 days.
- If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or the law requires it, we may suspend or close your account. Unless the law forbids it or it’s urgent, we will tell you why first.
- If the service shuts down altogether, we will give at least 30 days’ notice and a way to take your own data with you.
11. Liability
- The service is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, loss of data, or disputes arising between you and your partner.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. Significant changes will be announced in the app with the date they take effect; continuing to use the service after that date means you accept them. If you don’t, you can delete your account at any time.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If there’s a dispute, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it; otherwise the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere, the mandatory consumer protections of your local law still apply.
